NEEDS
• You can lodge your Notice (NIM -Notice of Intention of Marriage) in person, by mail or fax but you must bring the original notice with you when we meet before the wedding. I must receive the appropriately witnessed notice at least one month prior to the wedding. You can lodge this with me up to 18 months in advance of the wedding.
• You are required to show your original birth certificate or passport in order to satisfy the legal requirement . I must sight these documents before the wedding ceremony takes place. If you are from overseas, you must have attempted to get hold of these documents before the marriage and only when you have tried but not succeeded to get these documents, can you fill a statutory declaration stating the reason you can not provide this document. I also need to see a photo ID being a Driver's License or Proof of ID card.
• If you have been previously married, you must show your Divorce Decree Absolute or a Death Certificate of a previous spouse.
• You must be at least 18 years of age to marry in Australia.
• You are required to have two witnesses to the ceremony.
